We wish to welcome you to the IFIP WG 9.5 International Conference on “Images of Virtuality” 2009. Below, you will find some practical information about your visit to Athens and to the IoV'09 International Workshop in the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB).
How to reach AUEB
Route from International Airport ‘Eleftherios Venizelos’
Once you land in Athens International Airport, you have three options to get to the city centre where your hotel and AUEB is located:

By TAXI (about 30 km, 35min to 60min depending on the arrival time). The taxi will cost you around 30 to 35 Euro airport (surcharges apply). Taxi drivers issue receipts, some of them take a bit of convincing to do so. Have your hotel name printed somewhere to show it to the driver should verbal communication fail. According to the law, smoking is not permitted in a taxi and you should have fastened your seat-belt. |

By Suburban Railway & Metro: Take the Ariport Line form the Airport to Douk. Plakentias. Change to Metro Line 3 and take the train to Monastiraki station. Change to Line 1 ISAP from Monastiraki to Victoria (this is the nearest station to the University). You can find a detailed transportation map here. The Suburban Railway ticket costs 6 Euro. |

By bus & trolley bus: Take bus Express X95 just outside the airport all the way to Syntagma Square (average travelling time 60’). X95 runs every 15-20 min (from 04:55 to 02:50) and every 25 min (from 02:50 to 04:50). Bus ticket costs 3.20 Euro and you can buy it from the drives of the Airport busses, and blue/yellow ticket offices. Then from Syntagma Square, take the following trolley busses: No 7 (Get off at Pedion Areos stop) or No 15 (Get off at Pedio Areos stop). This bus service runs every 10-30 minutes, 24 hours a day. |
Important: For your regular trips with all means of the Athens Public Transport Network (Metro, Busses, Tram, Trolleys, and Suburban Railway), you can buy and use the Integrated Tickets. They cost 1 Euro and each ticket is valid for multiple trips on all transport options in any direction for up to one and an half hours. Please note that the Integrated Tickets only applies for the Athens Urban Zone (you can not use it to get to the Airport).
